    Personal profile

Mariana Ballesteros obtained the Advanced Technology Master's Degree from the National Polytechnic Institute in January 2016 and the Ph.D. in Automatic Control Science from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV-IPN), in February 2020, both in Mexico City. During her Ph.D. studies, she did a research internship in Lille, France, at the INRIA with professors Andrey Polyakov and Denis Efimov. Her doctoral dissertation topic was "Robust Realization of Optimal Control Based on Approximate Neural Dynamic Programming, " supervised by Professors Isaac Chairez and Alexander Poznyak. During her Ph.D. research internship, she worked on a non-parametric identifier for homogeneous systems.

Her main research interests include theory for robust control, optimal control, system identification, neural networks for control, approximation, and identification, in the area of automatic control; biomedical devices development, and medical robotics, as well as the analysis and processing of biosignals within the field of biomedical engineering.

She is currently working as a professor at the National Polytechnic Institute, where she is a member of the UPIBI-IPN Biomedical Signals Processing and Medical Robotics Laboratory. The research in the Lab is related to the application of automatic control and computer sciences techniques towards the development of medical technology. Additionally, in bachelor, she teaches dynamic systems, biosignals, digital image processing, sensors and interfaces, and bioinstrumentation courses. She has co-directed the thesis of bachelor students and master theses in the IPN.
