Resumen

In this paper a comparison of the vibration levels of the two more frequently suspension systems found in highway transportation in Mexico, namely, leaf springs and air, is shown. The tests were carried out in both systems, under similar conditions. Data was picked up and stored through a microprocessor-based data-logger via an accelerometer. After processing, the signals produced frequency spectra which were then analyzed. From the test results, the transmitted vibration energy was about 48% lower in the air suspension than the one transmitted by leaf springs.
