Resumen

CF stimulatory effects (CF+) on A-V transmission (AV) and contraction (CT) possibly result via deforming forces acting on (IESS). IESS are glycosylated proteins with a high affinity for lectins (Ls); some IESS have been isolated and their antibodies (ab) are available. We reasoned that if various Ls or ab were intracoronarily infused in isolated perfused guinea pig hearts one would expect to produce specific modulation of CF+ on AV and CT. Different Ls (8) and ab (9) were tested. 6 of the 8 Ls inhibited the CF+-AV and none affected on CF+-CT. 3 of the 9 ab were effective. CF+-AV was selectively inhibited Syalyl Lb and integrin œvβ5 ab, while the CF+-CT was solely potentiated by VCAM ab. Our results indicate that specific IESS may translate CF+ into modulation of specific functions. (Graph Presented).
