Resumen

Chemometrics is related to all those processes which transform analytical signals and complex data to useful information. In this issue, chemometric methods were applied to identify concentration of each single compound in a mixture. The processed information is contained in measurements of steady-state fluorescence spectra emitted by different substances (antifreezes and edible oils). The measurements were performed with a home made experimental system. A program was written in the graphical language G of the LabVIEW 8.2, to acquire spectra data and to perform several chemometrics techniques (multivariable analysis). The program calculates the concentrations of individual compounds present in a mixture. The results were compared to determine the most effective method. For edible oils, it is possible to find out the extent of adulteration of olive oil with lesser quality oils.
