Resumen

A state of the art is presented on the advances that have taken place in the field of mathematics education research in connection to the teaching and learning of the concept of vector space. Two guiding questions were used to organize the review: what learning obstacles related to the concept of vector space have been identified? and what teaching proposals have been made to promote a meaningful learning of the concept of vector space? In addition to providing answers to these questions, the analysis of the obtained results offers a synthesis of current knowledge and a perspective on possible areas for future research related to teaching and learning of the concept of vector space.
