Resumen

The conjugate-view counting method used to be the most popular approach to obtain the quantitative information of radiopharmaceuticals. However, the advances in the medical technology and the image processing methods have led to the appearance of new quantification techniques, among which stands out the three-dimensional (3D) quantification of activity in internal tissues of interest. Despite the advantages of this method, its application in nuclear medicine services is usually limited by the workload. In order to exploit the advantages that each quantification method offers, alternative quantitative techniques known as hybrid methods have been developed. This study assessed the quantification of99mTc-Octreotide through the conjugate-view method (2D) and the hybrid approach (2D/3D) in two patients. The hybrid quantification method improved the dose assessment avoiding the dose overestimation and underestimation in organs and lesions of interest observed in the 2D method.
