Resumen
The orifice plate is a flow sensor widely used in industry. Its wide acceptance is due to several factors, including its low cost and ease of installation and maintenance. However, due to its simplicity, this type of flowmeter induces several errors and inaccuracies at the moment of actually measuring flow. To improve the accuracy of the orifice plate sensor, a numerical and experimental analysis of water flow through an orifice plate was conducted. Results show that correction factors are needed as well as changing the position of the measurement points in order to improve the efficiency of the plate meter.
