Abstract

There are multiple works addressing the gentrification phenomenon, usually throughout the form of exemplary case studies, without analyzing the entire city. This work shows the construction of a methodology for the identification of gentrification zones and its application to Santiago de Chile and Mexico City. It is concluded that the analysis of the gentrification phenomenon at a city scale allows to make visible fewer known cases, identify different transformation tendencies in different parts of the city, and generate greater antecedents regarding the complex relationship between gentrification and displacement.
