Resumen

We worked with wastewater sludge and ash from a solid waste incinerator, installed in Toluca, México. We used 100 g of waste mixed with 10-40 g of mineral acid or sodium hydroxide to reach pH 2, 5, 7 or 10, together with 4-10 g of sodium bisulfate, 0.3-1.5 g of sodium dodecyl sulfate and 3.93 g of DTPA (Titriplex V, diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid). The qualitative analysis was done using fluorescence X-ray techniques and activation analysis. The quantitative analysis of heavy metals in the wastes was done using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The metallic alloys were studied by X-ray diffraction.
