Resumen

Traditionally, high-end Digital Signal Processors are used to implement nonlinear controllers for power converters. In this paper it is discussed why is necessary to do so and it is shown that if nonlinear controllers are designed to be simple to implement from the beginning then it is possible to implement it using low-cost microcontrollers. Instead of trying to overcome the problems that arise due to digital implementation, a nonlinear controller that achieve an acceptable performance even for slow sampling time is employed. Following this path, it is shown that very efficient, reliable, low-cost, low-power devices for massive applications can be produced.
