Resumen

In this article, a reduced folded dipole is designed by employing a short-circuited stub load, decreasing 42 % the length compared to a conventional antenna. The radiator presents low characteristic impedance (close to 50 Ω), without using any matching network, taking into account that a conventional λ/2 folded dipole presents an impedance close to 300 Ω. As well as the conventional radiator, the reduced folded dipole shows an omnidirectional radiation pattern. This antenna can also be employed as a driver for an array including a reflector-type antenna. In this work, a reduced 90° corner reflector is used and reduced, since it is function of the driver length, as a result a directive radiation pattern with a front to back lobe relationship close to 9 dB is achieved.
