N2 - A research was launched to find out the potential uses of the fly ash that is produced in coal burning Power Plants. The methods and conditions for obtaining cenospheres and magnetite concentrates have been experimentally determined. A rich cenosphere product is obtained by simple precipitation, which represents 1. 7 wt% from the original fly ash. A 46. 1 wt% of iron is removed from the fly ash by magnetic separation, obtaining a strong and a low magnetic products, that represent 1. 2 and 2. 9 wt% from the treated fly ash. The tails of these processes are suitable for alumina recovery. The different obtained products are characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques.
