N2 - Cauque prawns Macrobrachium americanum of four different weights were tested at different temperatures to determine the differences in their oxygen consumption. The prawns were studied in a closed respirometer system in individual assays of 30 min each. Temperature (18-30°C) had a noticeable effect on oxygen consumption for all weights of prawns; weight had a less significant effect. In all cases, the mass-specific oxygen consumption rate of small prawns was higher than that of large prawns for all of the temperatures studied.
