Resumen

Microstructural characterization of precipitation in an isothermally aged Nb-containing microalloyed steel was discussed. The precipitate phases formed during isothermal aging were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The precipitates were extracted by an electrolytic dissolution of the ferrite matrix in a solution composed of 10% of HCl in water. AlN and NbC were found to be the most stable phases formed at 900°C. The predictions were in agreement with the observed results.
