METHOD OF DETERMINATION OF THE UNSATURATION OF SKEPT RUBBERS.

A method is described which has been developed for determining the unsaturation in ethylene-propylene-terpolymers (Russian trade name SKEPT rubbers). The method is based on the quantitative reaction of ozone with unsaturated bond of the polymer chain, on the capacity of ozone for being absorbed in the UV region of the spectrum, and on the possibility of transforming the change in the ozone concentration at the exit from the reaction zone into an electric signal. Experimental measurements have proved the method provides high sensitivity, reasonable accuracy, and short analysis time.
