Resumen

In extended storage of fuel containing unsaturated compounds, their physicochemical and service properties deteriorate as a result of the development of oxidation processes. Unsaturated compounds have a major influence on the tendency of fuels to form condensation products as a result of oxidation and thermal breakdown at high temperatures in fuel systems. Hence it is important to monitor engine fuels for the content of unsaturated compound during production and application of the fuels. With the proposed high-sensitivity ozonation method, it is possible to determine small contents of unsaturated compunds (approx. 0. 001% of fuel weight) in the presence of aromatic hydrocarbons without any preliminary separation. As this method is very rapid, it can be used for monitoring fast processes of pyrolysis and cracking.
