N2 - In this paper we propose a DFT filter bank (FB) for spectrum sensing (SS), in which the prototype filter is designed using the Mathieu function. In order to evaluate its performance, we adopt two established Cognitive Radio (CR) scenarios from literature. The proposed design for SS is compared with two reported works, which use the root-Nyquist and prolate filters. The power spectral density (PSD) is estimated at the output of the analysis filter bank. The results of simulations show that the proposed method is able to better detect the occupied and free spectrum bands, than other two methods.
