Resumen

During the Middle and Late Jurassic, several transgressive events started in the Mexican territory; coming from the Eastern Pacific Province through Oaxaca, in southern Mexico, they covered almost all the country in the Late Jurassic. The Middle and Late Jurassic marine sedimentation has hereby been divided in events and named in accordance to their more characteristic locations in Mexico as follows: Oaxaca (Bajocian) in the south; Metlaltoyuca-Huehuetla (lower Bathonian-lower Callovian) in the east; Mazapil (lower Oxfordian) in the center; Samalayuca (lower Kimmeridgian) in the north; BoquiapanBalam (middle Callovian and upper Oxfordian) in the southeast; Cedro-Cucurpe (middle Callovian and upper Oxfordian) in the northwest; and Chiapas (lower Kimmeridgian) in the south.
