N2 - Cardiovascular diseases are still number one cause of death in the world. Once the patients have had previous events that jeopardize their physical integrity or even their life it is indispensable to monitor them anytime. The present work describes the design and implementation of a portable system able to monitor the heart rate and alerts the patient and a relative when an sinus arrhythmia occurs. The system uses a Smartphone with Android as operative system. The system consists of 5 steps: acquisition and signal conditioning of the electrocardiographic signal ECGs, digitation and radiofrequency (RF) transmission, reception and digital processing on a Raspberry, Android application to alert the patient and a relative and a WEB application to visualize, store and download the ECGs. The system was tested in different environments and different distances. It sends and receives the signal correctly up to 150 m. This distance allows a patient to move freely in their own house improving his quality of life.
