Resumen
Spirulina platensis was able to grow on glucose heterotrophically in aerobic-dark conditions as well as mixotrophycally in the light. The cell concentration of the mixotrophic cultures corresponded well to the sum of the autotrophic and heterotrophic cell concentrations. These results suggested that autotrophic (photosynthesis) and heterotrophic (oxidative metabolism of glucose) growth functioned independently in mixotrophic growth on glucose.
