title = "Flow control of liquid steel through design ladle shroud",
abstract = "Performance of a conventional ladle shroud of a continuous slab caster was compared against a new design of ladle shroud called Dissipative Ladle Shroud (DLS); these comparisons were made through physical water modeling using a 1:3 scale model of a slab tundish using an UVP (Ultrasonic Velocity Profile). Besides, the conventional ladle shroud using a turbulence inhibitor was also compared against the DLS; with significant improvements in the fluid distribution inside the tundish, both at steady state and transient state, where many of the defects of the continuous casting process occur.",
