Resumen

P3HT:PCBM layers deposited on PET/ITO flexible substrates were subjected to increasing tensile deformations to elucidate the interaction between mechanical and electrical properties as strains surpass the elastic region. Micrographs after tensile experiments showed that cracks start to form (up to 1 nm of thickness) when the unitary strain surpass 0.648%, which is the crack onset strain (COS). Coupled electrical measurements showed that electric conduction degrades as the crack density increases. COS determination is crucial for a reliable application of these layers on the fabrication of flexible photovoltaic solar cells, because manufacturing techniques, such as roll-to-roll, evolve tensioning the layers.
