Deformation and diffusion bonding of aluminidecoated steels

Some experimental work on hot and cold rolling as well as on diffusion bonding of low carbon aluminide-coated steels was carried out. Conventional and modified aluminizing packs were employed. It was observed that a lower concentration of aluminium in the coated layer resulted in a better bonding and that inert gas circulation was not sufficient to prevent the formation of an interfacial zone. Hot rolling yielded uniform reduction of the aluminide coating. The surface appearance was better after cold rolling.
