Resumen

The aim of this work is to study the integration of the Reforer-Exchanger System into an ammonia plant of obsolete technology. By eliminating the Primary Reformer it is possible to lower energy consumption of the produced NH3 current, which is of the order of 47.7 MMBTU/TM. A mathematical model was developed to evaluate the operation and to dimension the Reformer-Exchanger System. An economic study that the proposed technological change is a better option than to build a new plant under the current conditions.
