Resumen

The Gd2O3 nanoparticles synthesis was carried out by a chemical method, called Saturation by Solvent. This method offers operation advantages like uniform shape and size-distribution, and, an excellent stabilization against agglomeration of the synthetized product in comparison with those obtained by other techniques for producing nanoparticles. The particles were prepared using pure Gd2O3 with some drops of HCl and the obtained compound was dried and dissolved in di-ethylene glycol solutions. The results confirm that the Gd2O3 nanoparticles are polycrystalline with a crystallite average size of about 12 nm. The size of particles, after three months, was about 100 nm and its morphology was, in general, round.
