Resumen

Discusses a study of organic matter in the Razdol'naya estuary in 1984-86. Compares the seasonal variation and patterns in the dissolved organic matter composition of the river water with that observed in the estuary. Shows that in the estuary the major factor is the salinity concentration. At 3.5% salinity the river plankton die, while marine plankton bloom at a salinity around 30%. Examination of flocculation shows that at 15% salinity humic acid flocculation is complete, but that around 30% of fulvic acid is still in the form of stable colloidal formations at salinity concentrations exceeding 35%.
