Resumen
This paper presents the results of an analytical study for examining Subsynchronous Torsional Interactions (SSTI) between turbine-generators and Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) controllers in complex power systems. The study of the SSTI phenomena is done using modal analysis of a linearised model of the power system that includes a detailed representation of the electrical transmission network dynamics and FACTS devices. Based on this model, controllability-based measures are used to assess the level of torsional interaction between turbine-generators and the voltage control system of FACTS controllers, namely Static VAR Compensators (SVCs). The sensitivity of the SVC-turbine generation interaction phenomenon to various system parameters is discussed.
