Abstract

An improved method for controlling the pollution in waste and industrial reservoirs involves measuring the ozone absorbed by active organic components according to the ozonization reaction. This technique is carried out with the help of the compact original device "Double Bonds Analyzer", which has ozone working concentrations from 10-6 to 10-8 mole/l. This device can produce ozone from oxygen passing through a UV - generator. Ozone and oxygen are delivered to the reaction cell, where they are bubbled through the reaction mixture. The quantity of absorbed ozone is a measure for the water pollution degree. The ozonization process is quick, selective, does not require advance preparation of samples and can be recommended for determining the pollution degree of industrial sewage and natural reservoirs. This technique takes about 2s-120s per one testing analysis.
