Abstract
In this work we present preliminary results on the study of the ceramic system, described here by the proposed formula CanBi4Ti3+nO12+3n, where 0.25 < n < 2.10. We synthesised this series of compounds by solid state reaction method. The technique used for characterisation were DTA, DSC, TG, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that reaction temperature of these compounds is 889°C. We obtained a single phase in the range of 1.00 < n < 2.10, the identified structure by XRD is isostructural to SrBi4Ti4O15 compound, which has an orthorhombic structure [1]. Well formed grained structure is exhibited by electron microscope photographs.
