Abstract
The Jones calculus extended for optical waves that diverge and are modulated in electrooptic uniaxial crystals is applied to quadratic electrooptic coefficients. It is shown that in measurements of the coefficients the approach may be used to predict experimental errors that result from inaccuracies in the crystal cutting and alignment. The cases of static and sinusoidal modulating fields are considered.
