Abstract

Up to now in the electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) the electromagnetic transients caused by circuit breaker switching has been simulated using the ideal circuit breaker model. In this paper authors incorporate to the EMTP no-linear electric arc models to the simulation of power circuit breakers, in different extinction means and different work. Applications for reactor bank switching and short line fault are reported.
