Abstract

This paper presents simulation advances on the research of a single DC source Multilevel Active Power Filter (MAPF), which emerge as a possible solution to improve the power quality of the utility supply of on-land Power Substation of the Metro Line B of Mexico City. Multilevel voltage waveforms may be produced with the proposed filter to generate the appropriate filter line currents and produce clean supply currents in a 4-wire AC system. The MAPF is controlled by means of a predictive current control loop. A Saber model of the MAPF is described along this work together with its principle of operation and simulation results of a 3 kVA system.
