Abstract
This work presents the thermal evaluation by numerical simulation (SOLAR simulator) of an Experimental Solar Water Heating System (SSECA). Constructional features of the SSECA permit experimenting with different conditions in the water heating process, varying some operating parameters. These features were useful in order to determine the precision in the design and in the evaluation of solar water heating system using the SOLAR simulator. Comparison was made between the fraction of energy supplied by the SSECA under certain operating conditions and the fraction of energy calculated by numerical simulation with the SOLAR simulator. Results showed differences below 12%, which indicates that application of the SOLAR simulation is adequate for the design and evaluation of solar water heating systems.
