Abstract
Effects of Al3+ ions being partially substituted by Fe3+ ions in the magnesium-alumina spinel structure on the activity of SO2 oxidative adsorption and the reductive decomposition of sulfate have been studied. Both the number of the basic centers and the strength of basicity were altered when Fe3+ ion was introduced into the MgAl2O4 structure, which resulted in the simultaneous improvement of the activity of SO2 oxidative adsorption and the reductivity of sulfate.
