Abstract
Automatic detection of the structural features of an 800 by 800 pixels HRV sub-image covering part of the north east region of the Grand Erg Occidental in Algeria employs the ADONIS method specially adapted to the zone concerned. Spectral and textural data yield contour and surface discrimination parameters. The circular wind-blown structures have preferential contouring in the north north east direction, while west/south west/east north/east orientation is found in the small sand dunes covering the dune domes. -R.Hardbottle
