Abstract

Recently, the lipid transfer proteins has been studied and its main function is believed to modulate the composition of lipids, making easier the movement of them like monomers between the membrane from one cell to another. It has not been defined the mechanism which the transference takes place. However, they could interchange a pre-charge lipid with a membrane, or, if it has not a pre-charge lipid it could take out a lipid from one membrane and interchange with lipid from another membrane. These proteins can be classified in intracellular and extracellular according to their lipid substrate affinity. Inside the intracellular lipid transfer proteins we can find: monospecific lipid transfer proteins (PTLme), oligospecific phospholipid transfer proteins (PTFLoe), non specific lipid transfer proteins (PTLne) and microsomal triacilglicerid transfer proteins (PTTM). Inside the plasmatic or extracellular lipid transfer proteins we can find: lipid transfer lipoproteins type I (LPTL-I) and type II (LPTL-II). It is important the study of these proteins because if we knew how they work we would prevent or treat many diseases related with lipids.
