Abstract

Novel metal-chelating porphyrin-PAMAM dendrimers were synthesized via the microwave method. The molecular structure of the porphyrin-PAMAM dendrimers was characterized by1H NMR, and13C NMR. The molecular weight of the dendrimers was confirmed by either FAB+ or MALDI-TOF experiments. The metalbinding properties of the hyperbranched porphyrin-PAMAM dendrimers were studied by means of the polymer-supported nanofiltration technique. The results show that the three generations of porphyrin-PAMAM dendrimers retained Pb(II), Cr(II) and Fe(II) with a retention rate of 99 %, and Co(II) and Cd(II) with a retention rate above 50 %.
