Abstract

In Mexico, the technological development in the agricultural sector is an aspect that must be addressed, especially the design of agricultural machinery suitable for small farmers, who have limited resources to acquire large and sophisticated machinery developed in industrialized countries. In this context, this paper presents a literature review of design theories and methodologies analyzing those approaches that go beyond the technical aspects of design, thus integrating a holistic view. Also, a systemic analysis of the factors that affect the design of agricultural machines is developed, considering their interaction with the Mexican agricultural production system. For this, the case of study of motocultors is developed, whose primary advantage is the flexibility and versatility to work in small terrains of the Valley of Mexico. As a result, not only the central aspects of the design were covered, but also a broader context is taken into account in which cultural, social, economic and environmental aspects are integrated.
