Abstract

This work presents a system for evaluating the mechanical properties of liver tissue. This system is composed of a three-stage mechanism. The first stage consists of an epicyclic gear train. The second stage consists of bevel gears and a rack and pinion system. The three stages generate the conversion from rotary to linear motion at four points. The system can generate a compression load on the surface of a liver tissue sample. Results show the deformation and displacement values of the components of the testbed.
