N2 - The green algae (Chlorophyta, Ulvophyceae) recorded in the literature and specimens at herbaria from the littoral of Michoacan were extensively reviewed. Additionally, these data were supplemented with sampling in 10 localities from 2006 to 2014. A total of 56 infrageneric taxa of green algae (52 species, 3 varieties and 1 subspecies) were determined; from these, 33 were new records from Michoacan, being Blidingia minima var. vexata, Bryopsis pennata var. secunda, Cladophora crispula and Ulva chaetomorphoides new records for the Tropical Pacific coast of Mexico. The family Cladophoraceae was the best represented with 15 taxa, followed by Ulvaceae with 10. From the previous 32 records in the study area the presence of 23 records was confirmed, so the number of Ulvophyceae from this coast increased from 32 to 65 taxa. The floristic list is accompanied by data of presence, seasonality, reproduction, habitat and bibliographic references. Species diversity was compared between the dry and rainy seasons during 2006 to 2014, the greatest diversity was found during the dry season. The coast of Michoacán has the highest specific richness of Chlorophyta compared to other states such as Nayarit, Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero and Chiapas.
