Abstract
The thermal characteristics, of a heat transfer surface using annular finned pipes with 45° inclined fins respect the axial axis, which were obtained experimentally are presented in this paper. The pipes arrangement has one row often pipes. The heat transfer total area was approximately 1m2. All necessary thermal parameters for the heat balance in the proposed heat transfer surface were determined for different air velocities (Red=4×103 to 3×104) and for a constant thermal load. A correlation of the type Nud= c × Redn for the heat transfer calculation was obtained. The experimental results were compared with the analytical results obtained for a heat transfer surface with conventional annular fins with an equivalent area. It was found that the proposed surface dissipates up to 50% more heat. Therefore, it can be concluded that this kind of heat transfer surface is suitable for air-cooled heat exchangers applications.
