Abstract
A new methodology to estimate failure rates of a pipeline data pooled across pipeline systems based on the statistical methods for the reliability of repairable systems is introduced. The methodology holds particular utility when the failure rate needs to be estimated accurately from data gathered for multiple pipeline systems showing significant physical, environmental and maintenance differences.
