Abstract

In this brief paper, experimental results of the generation of acoustic waves in a tilted silo during the discharge process of a granular material are presented. The silo used in the experiments possesses cylindrical geometry. Acoustic waves, produced by dynamic pulsations due to the stick-slip motion of the granular material inside the tilted silo, are captured and analyzed using signal processing to show the behavior in time and frequency. The noise pollution of these acoustics waves is demonstrated by the calculation of the sound pressure level in dB.
