Abstract

In the present work, a technique to generate pores in Vulcan VCX-72 and VCX-72R commercial coal through the Hummers method and the elaboration of membranes is shown. The product obtained through the process was cleaned and dried, then SEM microscopy in which the generation of pores in the coal was observed. Membranes were elaborated using the material and were placed in an electrochemical cell in a set up of three electrodes immersed in an acid solution of H2SO4. Autolab® potentiostat and the Nova® software were used to carry out electrochemical tests that showed capacitive properties in the Hummers method's coal.
