Abstract

This paper proposes a low complexity image compression algorithm using a two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform, DWT, and the estimation of the matrices detail, using a 2D-adaptive RLS filter. The reconstructed image will be synthesized by using the estimated detail matrices and information matrix provided by the information matrix of the 2D DWT. Evaluation results show that proposed algorithm provides a similar performance that more sophisticated wavelet based image compression algorithms with much less computational complexity.
