Abstract

Nowadays, Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC) have proven to be successful to control process applications. This work presents a fuzzy intelligent controller that uses a specific purpose microcontroller with six fuzzy rules to control the reactor temperature of the Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo Hydrotreatment (HDT) Pilot Plant in a range of 0-700°C. The work includes simulation and experimental tests for normal operating conditions and abrupt step disturbances. FLC response is compared against traditional PID controller response, observing a better FLC temperature control response under disturbance conditions.
