Abstract

In recent years, different control systems have been incorporated to the automotive industry. The main goal is improving the safety and handling of the vehicles. This is the case of the active suspension system which we have researched. One of the multiple problems, that the active suspension presents is the absence of adequate sensors for these controllers. The present work describes an alternative way to measure the Pitch and Roll angles of the vehicle via Soft Sensors. The sensors are embedded in a FPGA and tested through hardware-in-the-loop simulation. The measurements of the Soft Sensors were quite close to the values obtained by the mathematical model. In the results are presented the design and analysis of the hardware requirements and the sample time of the Soft Sensor.
