Abstract

This paper describes the design and construction of a rehabilitation system for children with motor problems in their arms. An aluminum machined feedback system was obtained, using a microcontroller and servomotors. Also, design was developed by Solid Works software and analyzed by finite element method and both Direct and Inverse Kinematics were carried out; the aim of this system is help to rehabilitation of children with motor skills disorders, for different reasons, in their arms. It is a portable, novel system with a delta or five-bar structure, with closed kinematics, in which the patient can exercise the arms by performing certain recreational tasks. Due to its portability characteristic, this rehabilitation system can be applied in clinics and hospitals or the home.
