Abstract

An electromechanical device for the automatically shaping tortillas is described. As a background information the evolution of corn tortilla production technology, is also presented. The electromechanical device developed, substitutes for traditional cam mechanism with a great deal of advantage, in terms of flexibility to produce, practically, any tortillas shape. A number of tortilla shapes are presented to illustrate that the wide variety of tortilla shapes can be obtained with the electromechanical device developed.
