Abstract

1666 is considered by some historians to be the Annus Mirabilis ( miracle year ), thanks to the wonderful contribution of Issac Newton to physics. Now this must have a different connotation because in 1905, the young scientist of 26 years, Albert Einstein, four years before finding a job as a professor of physics, published four of the most important articles in the history of science, as well as his doctoral thesis, which were all written in his free time. The United Nations declared 2005as the World-Wide Year of the Physics to celebrate the centenary of the Annus Mirabilis of Einstein. As a homage, this article verifies the Principle of Equivalence, one of the most fundamental concepts of Einstein´s theory. A possible violation of the Principle of Weak Equivalence in the quantum world is exposed, as presented in the atomic level interference experiments achieved by Collela, Overhauser and Wernerduring the seventies well-known as COW (Collela-Overhauser-Werner).
